Corruption is present in all countries, rich and poor, North and South, developed and developing. Its cost is estimated at at least 2,600 billion dollars, or 5% of the world's gross domestic product. Businesses and individuals pay more than $ 1,000 billion in bribes each year.
No one is safe from this crime. Corruption is a complex social, political and economic phenomenon which affects all countries. It undermines democratic institutions, slows economic development and contributes to government instability.
