Strong societal expectations on the preservation of nature, epidemics of animal origin linked to increasing anthropogenic pressure on natural ecosystems and clear scientific findings on the collapse of biodiversity have helped companies to strengthen them. years the place of nature in their reflections on their social and environmental responsibility. They have also become aware of the consequences and risks for them of the erosion of biodiversity.
While many pilot projects exist, the new challenge in companies is to change the scale of the action: how to transform actions into general practices or even business strategies, the origin of which as much as the success of which is linked to local contexts. favorable, to specific circumstances or to the engagement of particularly motivated teams? The aim is to find out which initiatives work and with what support, the role of voluntary actions, regulations, scientific research, consumers.
This publication wishes to make the levers and modes of action of companies more explicit and tries to identify the conditions for their change of scale: how to deploy actions or actions of the same nature in different sites, in other sectors or other businesses, while avoiding transferring pressure from one environment or issue to another?
It is structured in three chapters:
1 / a first part is devoted to measures making it possible to avoid or reduce the pressures exerted by companies on biodiversity resulting from the IPBES summary report;
2 / a second part presents the solutions allowing to recreate spaces and conditions favorable to biodiversity;
3 / the last part is devoted to management methods and tools intended to promote the integration of nature in the decisions of economic actors.
