With 161 members, the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes is the leading international body working on the implementation of global transparency and exchange of information standards around the world. Since the G20 declared the end of banking secrecy in 2009, the international community has achieved great success in the fight against offshore tax evasion. Working through the Global Forum, countries have implemented robust standards that have prompted an unprecedented level of transparency in tax matters. Due to the ongoing health crisis, this year's plenary meeting was held virtually, from Wednesday 9 to Friday 11 December 2020. The overarching theme was "Transparency for tax purposes in the time of COVID-19 – Working together to promote the fairness of tax systems and generate revenue." \- Day 1 was broadcast live and featured high level speakers. Discussions revolved around the role of transparency and exchange of information for tax purposes during and in the aftermath of the pandemic, and how it could promote the fairness of tax systems and facilitate revenue mobilisation in light of strained national budgets. \- Day 2 was be open to delegates, observers and invitees only. It highlighted the Global Forum's progress and the challenges it faced in 2020. \- Day 3 was open to delegates and observers only. It was dedicated to the adoption of documents by the Global Forum.
