The Egmont Group is pleased to report that the Information Exchange Working Group (IEWG)'s "FIU's capabilities and involvement in the fight against the financing of extreme right-wing terrorism: Project Report" and the corresponding public bulletin are now available. WEBSITE

About the ERWTF project Extreme right-wing terrorist attacks (ERWTF) have been on the rise in the last five years. Although lone actors and small cells have committed the majority of extreme right-wing terrorism (ERWT) attacks, the international community considers that the threat level has increased, and ERW groups and individuals often operate transnationally. The capabilities and involvement of Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) at the domestic and international level can help identify financial intelligence links, patterns and methods related to these terrorist activities and their financing.  This positions FIUs as key partners for law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and/or intelligence services to fight this type of terrorism. The IEWG's ERWTF project sought to develop and consolidate the strategic intelligence picture associated with payments relating to ERW groups and individuals. The data from Egmont Group member FIUs and other sources provided the project team with an understanding of financial transactions suspected to be linked to ERWTF. The resulting indicators and keywords produced within the project report can be used by FIUs to proactively identify financial transactions likely to be linked to the financing of extreme right-wing terrorism within their datasets. The key findings of this project will enable FIUs to better contribute to efforts to tackle ERWTF.  Building on the reports' findings, FIUs will be able to provide LEAs with more actionable intelligence relating to the movement of funds and the identification of extreme right-wing terrorism. Jointly-led by the FIU of the Netherlands and France, this project is the result of collaboration with INTERPOL and the FIUs from: •    Australia •    Canada •    Denmark •    Finland •    France •    Germany •    Luxembourg •    Netherlands •    Panama •    Poland •    Slovakia •    South Africa •    United Kingdom
